Travellers to SA in June came from these 10 countries Posted on 28 August 2019 Statistics SA has released it latest tourism and migration report, showing international arrivals to South Africa for the month of June. A total of 3.35 million travellers entered South Africa in June 2019. This was 1.16 million more foreign visitors (an increase of 0.3%) compared with June 2018. Of the total visitors, 97% of foreigners came to South Africa on holiday, while 2.5% came for business, 0.5% for study and 0.1% travelled to receive medical treatment. Here are the top ten countries in terms of the number of travellers visiting SA this June: United States, 36 490 (23.6%) United Kingdom, 19 711 (12.8%) Germany, 9 748 (6.3%) India, 9 315 (6.0%) Australia, 9 064 (5.9%) China, 6 721 (4.4%) France, 6 519 (4.2%) Brazil, 5 645 (3.7%) The Netherlands, 4 859 (3.1%) Canada, 3 715 (2.4%) When comparing the number of visitors from the top ten countries between June 2018 and June 2019, India, Brazil, Canada, Germany, China, Australia and the UK showed an increase in visitors. The largest growth came from India up by 14.7%, from 8,119 travellers in June 2018 to 9,315 in June 2019. The number of visitors from France dropped by 4.6%, from 6,833 travellers in June 2018 to 6,519 tourists in June 2019. June is usually the month with the least visitors from abroad. The largest influx occurs during our warmer months between January and March and also in the last quarter between October and December.
