On a late afternoon scramble up the Brandwag in Golden Gate National Park, myself and a friend were were chasing the last bit of light in the sky. This week, SANParks will grant free access to day visitors at most of the 21 national parks, particularly with people from the surrounding communities in mind. Free entry, however, excludes the Namaqua National Park, Boulders Penguin Colony and the Table Mountain Cableway in Table Mountain National Park. It should be noted that free access to the parks does not include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities.
