Seek: the Shazam for nature Posted on 16 July 2019 Tags:Nature app, Seek Seek is a free app that nature lovers can use to help them identify plants, animals and other parts of Mother Nature. Developed by iNaturalist, the app has been described as the Shazam of nature. Seek uses image recognition technology to identify plant and animal species. The app adds a competitive edge by allowing users to earn badges for the different birds, amphibians, plants and fungi that they find. The free app encourages users to go outside and learn about the natural world around them. How it works: Open the app when you find an organism you want to identify. Point the Seek Camera at the animal / plant and capture an image of it. The app will identify what you have taken an image of, allowing you to earn badges. There is also a facts feature that will inform you about the organism.
