French flair and Cape wines in Joburg Posted on 5 July 2019 Tags:Cape Town, Joburg, Joburg restaurants, Johannesburg, Marble, Nederburg, Saint, Sandton City, wine While cycling fans around the world are gearing up for the monumental Tour de France 2019 that starts tomorrow, Saturday 6 July, two Joburg restaurants decided to ramp up the French flair by bringing a touch of joie de vivre and Cape wine to the City of Gold. Nederburg Wines has paired up with the Marble in Rosebank and Sandton’s Saint restaurant to celebrate all things foodie and French for the course of the Tour de France race period. Co-owner of the restaurants, chef David Higgs (a keen cyclist himself), as well as head sommelier, Wikus Human, have together developed some delicious French-inspired food and wine pairings using Nederburg wines. These will be served exclusively at Marble in Rosebank, and Saint in Sandton, during the race period. Offered on weekdays between 5 and 26 July from 12pm to 4pm, the special celebratory menu is available at R295 for two courses (starter and mains, or mains and dessert), and R375 for all three courses. Each course is carefully paired with a delicious wine from Nederburg’s lauded Heritage Heroes collection, and should keep you cosy and warm as you keep up with the peloton.
