Eiffel Tower zip line opens for thrill seekers

Posted on 30 May 2019

Famous French water company Perrier has installed a zip line in Paris that runs from the Eiffel Tower down to the end of the Ecole Militaire.

Those with a sense of adventure can take a 90kph ride from 115m in the air down the zip line, which will take you from the wrought iron tower to the Ecole Militaire at the bottom of Champ de Mars in just 60 seconds.

The 800m-long Paris attraction, known as the Smash Perrier, was first opened in 2017 to celebrate the French Open international tennis tournament. This year it once again open and operate from 5-11 June during the French Open (21 May-9 June), in celebration of the event and of the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower’s existence.

Potential riders will not be able to buy tickets for the ride, but will need to apply on the Perrier Instagram page. Random draws will take place between 29 May and 2 June and the winners will be able to experience what Director of Communication at Perrier, Francoise Bresson, describes as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience’.

The Eiffel Tower, the world’s most visited monument, was first opened in 1889 and includes attractions such as the lift ride to the top, two restaurants and a glass-bottomed lookout deck.
