Kuzuko Lodge – home of Sylvester the runaway lion Posted on 5 April 2019 Kuzuko Lodge has become the home of South Africa’s famous runaway lion, Sylvester. He’s settled well here, among the hills and valleys cloaked in succulent Karoo scrub, and even fathered some cubs. Watch the cubs play and Sylvester stroll through his kingdom as contently as any lion could, while Head Ranger CF Truter tells us more about the groundbreaking conservation projects happening at Kuzuko Lodge. Besides managing its wildlife, Kuzuko is also able to sell carbon credits because of its spekboom plants – they’re one of the best carbon sequestrators in the world. Spekboom grows here naturally and Kuzuko is planting more in an effort to rewild sections of the reserve that were once farming land.
