Weekly flights between SA and Doha to increase Posted on 1 March 2019 Tags:Cape Town, flights, Johannesburg, Qatar Airways South Africans will soon have even more weekly flight options to choose from when it comes to travelling outside of the continent. Qatar Airways will be launching 10 addtional weekly flights from South Africa to Doha from July 2019. The airline already has 21 flights leaving SA each week. By the end of October 2019 this number will have increased to 31 due to the popularity of flights between its hub, Hamad International Airport in Qatar, and two major South African cities, Johannesburg and Cape Town. The CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, said that: ‘As the largest city in South Africa, Johannesburg has emerged as one of our key regional destinations for both leisure and business travellers alike since its introduction in 2005.’ Commenting on Cape Town, he said that ‘With its mix of nature, culture and wildlife, Cape Town is another hugely popular regional destination, offering a unique and memorable experience for our passengers.’ Cape Town’s flights to and from Doha will increase to 10 by the end of October, up three from its current offering. Currently, to fly from Cape Town to Doha return costs from just under R16,000 in economy class. To fly from Johannesburg to Doha return in economy class costs just over R12,000.
