British Airways is referring to the festive season this year as ‘the great Christmas getaway’ and has identified New York and Geneva as their busiest and most popular long- and short-haul flight routes respectively.

The airline expects to be serving 66,000 Christmas dinners over this period and their food prep involves 330,000 brussels sprouts, 270,000 potatoes for yummy golden roasting and 8,250 kg of turkey. According to their media statement, passengers will also be served ‘a record number’ of mince pies this year, and those on board British Airways flights will receive some of about 100,000 festive treats the airline has ready.

As ’tis the season, British Airways will also be changing up their in-flight entertainment options, or ‘enter-sleigh-ment’ as they’re calling it, and passengers will be able to kick back and watch their choice of one of up to 40 new Christmas films, including favourites like Home Alone 2 (1992), The Elf (2003) and The Holiday (2006).

‘Christmas is an incredibly popular time for friends and family to reunite, so we want to help our customers who are travelling during the holiday period celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with Christmas dinners, festive films and mince pies,’ said Carolina Martinoli, British Airways Director of Brand and Customer Experience.
