App-grade your Kruger National Park experience Posted on 30 October 2018 A handy new app that provides visitors with updated information on road blocks, strikes, detailed maps and incentives in the Kruger National Park is scheduled to launch this week. Called the Greater Kruger App, it was created to assist tourists to seamlessly explore more of the national park and even offers discounts on activities. It is available free on Android and Google Play stores. The app is tailored to the ultimate safari experience, offering users free maps of the Kruger National Park, Lowveld, Panorama, Mpumalanga, Swaziland and more – along with updated information to ensure their safety. Greater Kruger App spokesperson and founder, Gerhard Brummer, is proud of his creation. “The product was designed for various reasons in mind, of which the most important to be safety and security. Travelling the Lowveld regions of South Africa is an extremely ‘new’ environment for any international tourist. To travel this area you need state of the art information, mapping and advice and everything is provided via the Greater Kruger Card Application,” said Brummer A general ‘adventure map’ showcasing attractions, eateries and actives to experience in the area is included in the app as well as a weather report and event schedules for the areas surrounding the national park. This allows visitors to plan their day and the duration of their stay efficiently. On the app you can purchase a card for R100 which is valid for 365 days, and can be used by four people traveling together. The card has discount offers for areas such as Barberton, Panorama, Hazyview, Kruger South and more. There are reduced rates on restaurants, accommodation, activities and even horseback safaris at Kwa Madwala. “The Greater Kruger Card forms a state of the art information portal to the Lowveld regions with various discounts at more than 80 prominent facilities in the area,” said Brummer. Equestrian Safari Visitors must present their card at participating facilities to receive their discount. Users must book directly at the facility on the app system to receive reduced rates. The card can be purchased on the Greater Kruger App or on Hoedspruit.net. The app is currently not available on iOs but will be in the coming months.
