Solo Lexington backpack Posted on 19 June 2018 A backpack is a backpack, right? If that’s your opinion, we have to disagree. There are as many types of rucksacks, with numerous functions, as there are backs to carry them (well, almost). There’s the utility backpack, the sports backpack, the backpacker’s backpack, the long-distance athlete’s hydration (back)pack, the furry bunny kids’ backpack, the ‘el cheapo’ backpack, the leather backpack…you get the picture. We tested the Solo Lexington15.6″ that forms part of the Gramercy Collection, inspired by the historical New York neighbourhood, to see where it fits in this busy niche of carriers. On the plus side this laptop-friendly bag that weighs 1,5kg, does have lots of pockets inside and out, so there’s no reason for anything to roll around or get lost in the bag. The laptop compartment is padded and there is a seperate space for a tablet. You can secure sunglasses, wallets, books and pens easily too and we like the practability of the handle on top. We found that the padding on the shoulder straps is okay, however if you fill the backpack with heavy items and plan to be walking long distances between airport terminals it could do with a little extra padding. The zips work well, but we do wonder about the longevity of the zip lapels. What we liked The well-thought-out design with a myriad of pockets, pouches and even pen holders. What we didn’t like The nylon fabic appears to be the same kind that cheaper rucksacks, that are manufactured in a more rudimentary manner than this one, are composed of.
