But if you’re free in the early evening, we’ve found the perfect lifehack when you can’t face cooking: Monday restaurant specials. These awesome eateries are not only open on a Monday, but also have a Monday special offer. The Deckhouse Crab Shack & BBQ, City Bowl If you are a fan of ribs, then grab a seat on a couch made from a re-purposed rowing boat at The Deckhouse Crab Shack & BBQ in Kloof Street on a Monday and tuck into their all-you-can-eat ribs buffet for R195 per person. If sticky fingers and ribs aren’t your thing, you can also enjoy 25% off their menu on a Monday (to Friday) from 11:00 – 18:00. Brad’s Grill, Harfield Village The ‘In by 6 out by 8’ special will cost you R80 for either a 180g sirloin steak, a chicken schnitzel, deep-fried calamari, hot and spicy chicken wings or vegetable spring rolls. Or you can combine any two dishes listed to make a combo meal for R140. There’s also line fish, lamb shank or 400g spare ribs for R125 and a grilled vegetarian salad for R85. Cape Town Fish Market (various suburbs in Cape Town) The Cape Town Fish Market is a chic, yet informal spot to enjoy a Monday special, all day. You can get 200g portion of fish and chips or any burger and chips for R55, the double beef burger for R95 (add R10 for cheese, pepper or peri-peri sauce). Plus, order a sticky toffee dessert full portion for R40 or half portion for R20! You’ll find a Cape Town Fish Market in Big Bay, Canal Walk, Grandwest Casino, Steenberg and the V&A Waterfront. The Larder Café, Claremont The Larder Café hosts a Supper Club three evenings a week and at their Monday Roast Chicken Supper Club you and three friends can tuck into a delicious set dinner of organic and locally sourced roast chicken with a selection of sides for R600, with a bottle of wine (per table of four). There’s also be a selection of starters and desserts to choose from at an extra cost. If you aren’t able to rustle up a group of four, you are welcome to go along with a friend for R150 each. CinCin Restaurant at Colosseum Hotel, Century City CinCin might be a more up-market option, but it can also be affordable. Hudsons (various suburbs in Cape Town) All three Hudsons burger joints offer a 2-for-1 special on their appetisers, beers and cocktails between 16:30 – 18:30 every Monday (through to Friday). Cocktails include Mojitos, Mai Tais, Bloody Marys, Pimms, Cosmopolitans and Moscow Mules, while their craft beer range includes Jack Black, Devils Peak, Darling Breweries and their own Hudsons Pale Ale drought. In the appetiser section of the menu you’ll find triple cheese chilli poppers, mac and cheese croquettes, falafels, crumbed chicken strips and bacon-wrapped chilli poppers. Mondiall Kitchen & Bar, V&A Waterfront At the Monday Madness special at Mondiall you can order any two starters, mains or desserts for the price of one! The menu changes seasonally, but you can expect dishes like shellfish bisque, steak tartare, seared Norwegian salmon, Cape Malay lamb curry, Mondiall’s famous 100 % Wagyu cheese burger, banana split and salted chocolate tart. Pure Restaurant, Hout Bay Manor A historical building (built in 1871), Hout Bay Manor has been gracefully restored to its former elegance, and are offering two-for-one tapas on Monday (through to Friday), from 12:00 – 19:00. You could combine this with their Happy Hour, which includes wine and beer (excluding craft beers) from 17:00 – 19:00. Tapas start at R50 and include chicken wings, mini beef burgers, crumbed buffalo mozzarella, pork belly, Kataifi prawns, ocean cakes and gazpacho. Contact: Tel 0217919393, houtbaymanor.com 9. Royale Eatery, City Bowl This popular burger-and-milkshake spot in Long Street have selected burgers (served with a portion of fries) for R45 every Monday (to Thursday) from 15:00 – 17:00. It’s a bit early for dinner, but we are sure you can linger and enjoy one of their famous double-thick milkshakes or tuck into a malva pudding with ice-cream for dessert. The Vineyard Hotel, Newlands Relax in the Garden Lounge and enjoy an early dinner with a glass of Nativo wine for R145. The special is served between 16:00 – 19:00 and changes each week. They also have weekly wine tastings free of charge from 18:00 – 19:00 which are a perfect opportunity to meet the winemakers and sample the latest and best from some of the Cape’s many estates. Wang Thai, Milnerton Wang Thai brings to its restaurants a traditional Thai culinary culture with all meals prepared by Thai-trained chefs using authentic, imported spices and the freshest locally-sourced ingredients. Woodstock Grill & Tap, Woodstock “Meaty Monday” at this non-traditional steakhouse on Albert Road sees 2-for-1 burgers (plus any side) from R80. They also have a ‘chill hour’ from 15:00 – 18:00 where you get a litre of beer served with a portion of either biltong, bitterballen, mini-burgers, calamari heads or vegetable spring rolls for R80.
