Earth’s most magnificent creature filmed in deep space Posted on 27 April 2015 Tags:sperm whale Space travel shmais travel. There is cosmic beauty right here, in the bowels of planet Earth. Watch this rare video of a sperm whale filmed at almost 600 metres below the surface, in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana. Now try get the Star Trek theme song out of your head. According to the researchers on the ROV Hercules, the whale circled Hercules several times, giving their cameras the chance to capture some incredible footage of this beautiful creature. I particularly enjoyed the fact that nobody was shouting ‘Oh my gaaad, oh my gaaad, try get a selfie.’ 10 points for science. Want something more spacey? This video, filmed from the ISS, shows off Aurora Borealis and other natural phenomena from space. It’s spectacular.
