The Wonder of Elephants Photo Competition winner Posted on 12 August 2013 Tags:Cape Town, Kenya, Zimbabwe We asked you to show your support for World Elephant Day by sharing your best ellie pics in the Wonder of Elephants Photo Competition to win a safari adventure for two to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe with Wilderness Safaris. The response was overwhelming! We received almost 600 photo entries in less than two weeks. Last week, we asked you to vote and again, the response was phenomenal. We received almost 1 200 votes. The winner After intense deliberation from our panel of judges, combined with the votes you cast last week, there was one clear winner. Congratulations Marcus Westberg on your winning image: Motherhood World Elephant Day, Wonder of Elephants Photo Competition. Winner - Marcus Westburg The prize Marcus has won a four-night luxury safari adventure in Hwange, Zimbabwe with Wilderness Safaris. Prize includes flights, two nights accommodation at Wilderness Safari’s Davison’s Camp and two nights at Little Makalolo Camp as well as all meals, park fees, scheduled camp activities and return transfers (by road) to and from the camps. The winning image will be showcased tonight at the Conservation Action Trust Wonder of Elephants photo exhibition at Moyo in Kirstenbosch, Cape Town. I came across this herd of elephants early one morning in the Majale riverbed in Mashatu. After 20 attempts I finally got a shot of them drinking at the same time. Marcus Westberg - Elephant storm. Elephants cross the Masai Mara, Kenya savanna in the afternoon, heading for the hills to escape an approaching storm. Morkel Erasmus - A large elephant bull raises himself up on his hind legs in the floodplain-woodlands of Mana Pools in Zimbabwe to reach the succulent leaves up high. Eugene Troskie - Elephant's foot. I had an up-close and very personal experience with this elephant bull that was standing right next to us. Valmai le Grange - Siesta time at Hapoor Dam in Addo Elephant Park. Jaco Marx - The misty clouds were covering us on early morning at Sabi Sand.
