Imhoff Farm: the South Peninsula's hidden treasure Posted on 2 July 2013 Tags:Cape Town While visiting the South Peninsula for a month, I developed a not-so-minor addiction to the walnut-filled brownies at Imhoff Farm. This family-friendly stop on Kommetjie Road at the Ocean View turnoff is a fantastic reason to plan a daytrip in the South Peninsula. Plan your trip with a carload of friends, children, or any neighbours that look badly in need of a spot of fresh air. Imhoff Farm is hard to miss, with a caravan of camels waiting out front to take intrepid adventurers on a “pretend you’re Lawrence of Arabia” ride around the lawn. If wildlife is your game – or, if you’ve got a gaggle of children in tow – head over to the petting zoo and the snake park. We’ve already highlighted the fantastic children’s activities at Imhoff Farm (See: 10 things to do with your kids in Cape Town these school holidays.) There are plenty of good reasons to visit if you’re only young at heart. For the ophidiophobic (snake-fearing!) among us, or for anyone who just wants to chill out, Imhoff Farm has plenty of shops to stroll through and a collection of three restaurants to tempt your palate. Pick out a few colourful pieces from Zizamele Ceramics to brighten your home. The bright colours at Zizamele Ceramics always catch my eye, and racks of bright outfits at Peek-a-Boo never fail to tempt my gift-buying urge for nieces and nephews. And for something my own size, the Rummage Co Op never fails as a treasure trove of funky second-hand clothes. Stop in at PeekaBoo to buy a colourful gift for the sweetest little person in your life.Rummage Co Op is a treasure trove of upcycled vintage outfits. While the restaurants at Imhoff Farm have mouth-watering menus, my favourite part of a trip to the Farm involves a leisurely stroll through the Free Range Farm Shop, choosing picnic makings from the amazing selection of homemade bread, fresh produce, Imhoff cheeses and eye-catching treats. On a sunny day, a picnic lunch on the lawn is the perfect recipe for happiness. Stock up for your picnic at the Free Range Farm Shop Don’t forget the brownies! Here are directions to Imhoff Farm. Want to stay for longer than an afternoon? Book accommodation at Imhoff’s Gift.
