Awesome travel video: Crazy German takes a 23-year road trip Posted on 13 November 2012 Tags:Africa, Berlin Remember when the Berlin Wall fell? I don’t. I was too busy figuring out what lego tasted like. However, back in 1989, when the wall fell, a German by the name of Gunther Holtorf set off with his wife Christine on an 18-month tour of Africa in their Mercedes Benz G Wagon (which he calls Otto). Their journey turned into a 23-year road trip, encountering dangerous animals, ridiculous bridges, ‘African’ potholes and a lot of ‘hairy and scary’ (as Gunther puts it) moments. In total they covered a distance equal to 20 times around the globe and never had a serious breakdown (Land Rover owners take note). Warning: this video may make you want to sell everything and travel forever All photos by Gunther Holtorf and David Lemke.
