An unexpected airline safety video Posted on 1 November 2012 How boring are airline safety videos? Seriously, it’s almost like airline companies want you to drift off into a high-altitude reverie and completely forget what to do in an emergency. That’s like the opposite of safety (a.k.a danger). Even the ones that try to be a little lighthearted end up being lame after the first time. Yes, I am talking to you, SAA. I stumbled upon this video, produced by Air New Zealand. Inspired by the upcoming movie, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ their latest in-flight safety video doesn’t feature your regular posy of passengers. Rather, it features a party of hobbits, elves, wizards, dwarfs and cameos from Gollum and even director Sir Peter Jackson. I watched the whole thing. I listened to all the instructions. I remembered where my life jacket is. I’m not even on an aeroplane. You know where the exits are now don’t you? Nice one AZN.
