10 restaurants with fireplaces in KwaZulu-Natal

Posted on 15 August 2012

With the icy weather outside, it’s tempting to want to stay curled up under a blanket at home. We’ve found the perfect antidote to the cold – a hot meal in front of a roaring fireplace. Warm up inside and out at one of these great winter restaurants in KwaZulu-Natal.

1. Freshly Ground Café, Hillcrest

The deconstructed, yet stylish, interior of this café houses a dining area, a widely stocked bar and comfy couches and a fireplace in a lounge area.  The café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and hosts live music on a Friday night.

4.The Cooking Bear, Lidgetton, Midlands

7.Gigi’s Restaurant at Hotel Izulu

The black, white and silver decor is interspersed with bright pink accents, creating a fun element in the otherwise formal dining area of this newly renovated restaurant.  A feature crystal chandelier illuminates a feature wall covered in Oscar Wilde wallpaper. A highlight of Gigi’s is the chef’s table dining room in the kitchen. Up to six guests can watch the cooking process through glass windows while enjoying a signature dish.
