We’ve rounded up five affordable accommodation spots near Cape Town for you to enjoy this Easter. 1. Lebanon Citrus Holiday Farm – Clanwilliam Dam Clanwilliam dam is perfect for waterskiing and wakeboarding but equally cool for a chilled weekend on the water’s edge, drinking beers around a braai. Labanon is a lush green 650-hectare citrus and Rooibos tea farm directly on the dam equipped with four rustic wooden cabins and fifteen camp sites. In April the water level is pretty low but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of the mountainous surrounds or the relaxed joy that comes from sunbathing with a book next to a big body of water. Eselfontein Outdoor Getaway – Ceres Valley Eselfontein farm stretches over 2500 hectares and is surrounded by the majestic Skurwe and Matroosberg Mountains. The farm boasts a skillfully designed 48km mountain-biking trail, expansive dam, waterfall, fishing spots and hiking trails. Situated fifty meters from the dam in an aromatic pine forest, there are six thatch-roof huts, each housing two single beds with mattresses. An additional eight people are allowed to camp. With a thatch-covered bar area, massive outdoor braai, large dining table, wooden armchairs, running water, flushing toilets and hot showers, the eco-hut experience is both comfortable and wild. Journey’s Rest – Napier The two self-catering cottages at Joureny’s Rest are revived ‘worker huisies’, kitted out with everything you need for a relaxed weekend away with your mates or family. Sea Breeze – Kommetjie It’s less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town but Kommetjie is one of those cool coastal towns totally unaffected by city stressors. Sea Breeze is just a two minute walk from the beach, located in the Klein Slangkop Estate that forms part of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious open plan dining room, four bedrooms that open onto a wooden deck and a television room. This corner of the Western Cape is packed with natural beauty and outdoor activities and Fairy Knowe Backpackers, set on the Touw River, is perfectly positioned to show everything off. Rooms are set into trees within a lush garden, overlooking the thick milkwood forest, the lagoon or the river.
