It’s Bushmills time! Posted on 15 August 2011 Tags:belfast, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, russia, South Africa, united kingdom, United States It all started with a Facebook competition. And now the time has finally arrived. We are on our way to Bushmills! Thousands of whiskey fans entered the Make it 2 Bushmills competition with the hope they would be chosen to represent South Africa at Bushcamp in Northern Ireland. Make it 2 Bushmills, hosted by Bushmills Irish Whiskey Master Distiller Colum Egan, gave away the chance for two friends the chance to spend two weeks at the world-famous Old Bushmills Distillery, make their own whisky, live in a luxury penthouse, get £5000 spending money to share and VIP access to the ultimate Bushmills party that will be hosted in the winners’ country. So now it is time for our guys to step up and bring the party home! 30-year-old orthotis and prosthetist , Sean Tickner, and 27-year-old brand strategist and marketing consultant Jonathan Oliff are the lucky friends who will be competing in Belfast this week. They received the most votes on Facebook for their entry. In fact, South Africa had the highest number of entries of any of the 11 countries taking part (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Russia, and USA). Sean and Jonathan will compete against 10 other pairs from the other countries in a number of challenges to find the ultimate winners of Make it 2 Bushmills. Challenges include barrel-rolling, beach golf and DJ-ing among others. The final will be judged by Bushmills Master Distiller Colum Egan, Kevin Baird of Two Door Cinema Club, Jonathan Galkin of DFA Records, and Rob Allanson of Whisky Magazine. The winners will be announced on 17 August, but we shall be there to keep you posted throughout Bushcamp. So be sure to check out our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for updates.
