Braai4Heritage tour: Day 20 – Half way at the Sterkfontein and Swartkrans Caves Posted on 2 April 2011 It’s day 20 and the half way stage of the tour! For today I’ll leave you with a photo diary of our trip through the Sterkfontein and Swartkrans Caves, part of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage site. The site was designated in 1999 due to the unparalelled number of early hominid fossils found in the area. Our visit to the caves culminated with a trip to the excellent Maropeng Visitors’ Centre. The day’s braai was at the Radium Beerhall in Joburg, the oldest pub still serving the city. Read more about it on the Braai4Heritage tour blog.
